Creating a Funnel
What is a funnel?
A funnel is a sequence of steps that describes a particular journey within your product. A funnel must consist of at least two steps, and each step may consist of one or more events or saved data objects (e.g. milestones, KPIs, etc.)
For example, one common funnel is a signup funnel that includes all major steps that need to be performed to sign up for a product. Another common funnel is the sequence of steps that need to be performed to download a product’s mobile app.
Once you’ve created a funnel, you can run analyses such as Funnel Analysis, which provides unique insights into user behavior within your funnel.
How to create a funnel
- Log into Loops and click “Data Management” in the left-side navigation bar.
- Click “Content” in the left-side menu.
Click the Create Funnel button at the top-right corner of the screen, and a dialog box will appear.
- Enter a name and description for your funnel.
- Select an entity for the funnel – that is, whether it should include events, saved data objects, and/or properties on the “User” or “Account” level.
Name and define the first step in your funnel, which may consist of one or more events, saved data objects, or properties. Only those from relevant views will be displayed, based on whether “User” or “Account” was selected in Step 5.
For example: if you choose “User”, you may be able to create a funnel using the event “user_logged_in”, but not “account_logged_in”.
- Name and define at least one additional step in your funnel.
- Click Save. If you click Save and run analysis, you will automatically be taken to the flow for configuring and running a funnel analysis.
Once the funnel has been successfully created, it will appear under “Funnels” on the Data Management page. From there, you’ll be able to edit, duplicate or delete it.
